Incident 34. The team was called by the Police at 10:54 to attend to a walker who had fallen at Swelltor Quarry, sustaining injuries to his ankle and wrist and a blow to his head. We were able to get to the incident site within 40 minutes along with paramedics from SWAST who tended the casualty. DSRT Tavistock team members prepared a stretcher, with a single line rope setup for security, to extract the casualty from the quarry and then carry him a short distance for evacuation by Devon Air Ambulance. We were supported by two members of Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response who assisted with transporting team members to and from the incident site. A successful multi-agency operation.
The casualty was in good spirits and we wish him a speedy recovery.
